Renting With Pets
The Australian Companion Animal Council (ACAC), with the support of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and the ASAVA, has recently released the brochures, Renting with Pets and Tenants with Pets, along with Pet Application & Agreement Forms.
The brochures offer an informative resource to landlords considering renting to pet owners and provide simple steps and helpful hints to help prospective tenants secure pet friendly rental accommodation.
Protect Your Pool, Protect Your Kids
In 2010, with assistance from The Samuel Morris Foundation and the Swimming Pool and Spa Association of NSW (SPASA NSW), The Children’s Hospital at Westmead developed the Protect Your Pool, Protect Your Kids online video.

There are 35 new local council areas that have been added to the existing list of 28 councils identified as being affected by loose-fill asbestos and eligible for assistance as part of the NSW Government’s Voluntary Purchase and Demolition Program.

Improvements to tenancy laws have been identified in a new report tabled in the NSW Parliament.
The report on the statutory review of the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 details findings from consultation conducted between October 2015 and March 2016. The report makes 27 recommendations to modernise and enhance the laws, including strengthening protections for victims of domestic violence.
Amendments to the tenancy laws to implement the recommendations should be introduced into Parliament in the first half of 2017.

Fair Trading provides a rental bond lodgement, custody and refund service on behalf of the Rental Bond Board. The Rental Bond Board is an independent and impartial custodian of rental bonds paid by tenants for residential tenancies in NSW.
Commencing from 2017, Fair Trading provides data for recent rental bond lodgements and refunds as well as data on the total rental bond holdings.
The data published by Fair Trading includes data provided by the agent or landlord at the time of lodgement. A legend is included in each file describing the content.
